Connect Katana to your AI chat — Claude or ChatGPT. Ask about your stock, sales orders, production, and suppliers — and take action without leaving the conversation.
Katana MCP works on every plan, including our Free tier — no credit card needed. Spin up an account in under two minutes, connect your AI chat, and start asking your business questions.
A paid subscription to your AI provider (such as Claude or ChatGPT) is required to use MCP.
Katana's MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open, secure connection between your Katana account and AI clients like Claude and ChatGPT. No exports, no dashboards to build, no engineering needed — just ask, and act.
Add Katana to your AI client in under a minute. Sign in to your Katana account when prompted — no API key, no config file.
Talk to your inventory, orders, production, and suppliers in plain English. Get sourced answers grounded in your live Katana data.
Create new records — sales orders, MOs, POs, transfers, SKUs — or update existing ones. Ask the AI to show you what it'll do before you confirm, and it will.
Real prompts you can paste into your AI chat today, organized by the four parts of Katana you operate every day.
Skip the filters and pivot tables. Ask the question, get the number.
From a customer call to a draft SO in one message.
Start, find, and unblock manufacturing orders without clicking through screens.
Cut the supplier-portal trawling. Ask once, act once.
Your AI client supports multiple connectors at once — add Slack, Google Sheets, or Confluence alongside Katana and reference them in the same conversation. Each connector is set up separately; Katana doesn't control or provide the others.
"Post today's production status to #ops."
"Drop my open sales orders into a sheet for tomorrow's standup."
"Draft a weekly inventory snapshot on our ops page."
Katana MCP works inside Claude and ChatGPT today. More clients coming soon.

In Claude on the web (claude.ai), click Customize in the left sidebar, then Connectors, then the + button at the top of the list. The Add custom connector modal opens.
Leave Advanced settings closed. Then click Add.
A sign-in page opens. Sign in to Katana and approve the connection. You'll be brought back to Claude.
Open a new chat and ask: "Show me all my currently open sales orders in my Katana account." Katana's tools are on by default in new chat, you'll see Claude call them and answer.
claude.ai · Customize → Connectors → Add
Connect Claude to your data and tools.
Only use connectors from developers you trust. Anthropic does not control which tools developers make available and cannot verify that they will work as intended or that they won't change.
You'll know it worked when you see this in your connector list
Double-check the Remote MCP server URL is exactly https://mcp.katanamrp.com with no trailing slash. Custom connectors are a Beta feature — make sure your Claude plan supports custom connectors (available on Pro, Team, and Enterprise).
Allow popups for claude.ai and your Katana domain. If the redirect back fails, click the Katana connector in Customize → Connectors and choose Reconnect. If you signed in with the wrong Katana account, sign out there first and reconnect.
Make sure you're in a new chat — existing sessions won't pick up newly added connectors. If a new chat still doesn't see Katana, open the tools menu to confirm it's enabled, then refresh the page.
Customize → Connectors → click Katana → Disconnect. That immediately revokes the connection.
In Claude Desktop's left sidebar, click Customize, then Connectors, then the + button at the top of the list. The Add custom connector modal opens.
Leave Advanced settings closed. Then click Add.
A browser tab opens. Sign in to Katana and approve the connection. You'll be redirected back to Claude Desktop.

Double-check the Remote MCP server URL is exactly https://mcp.katanamrp.com with no trailing slash. Custom connectors require a recent Claude Desktop build — if you don't see the "+" button, update Claude Desktop and try again.
Allow popups for claude.ai and your Katana domain. If the browser opens but the redirect back to Claude Desktop fails, click the Katana connector in Customize → Connectors and choose Reconnect. If sign-in succeeded in another Katana account by mistake, sign out there first and reconnect.
Make sure you're in a new chat — existing sessions won't pick up newly added connectors. If a new chat still doesn't see Katana, open the tools menu to confirm it's enabled, then fully quit and reopen Claude Desktop.
Customize → Connectors → click Katana → Disconnect. That immediately revokes the connection.
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and toggle Developer mode on. ChatGPT shows an elevated-risk warning — that's normal and required to add any custom MCP server.
A Create app button appears at the top of the Apps screen. Click it to open the New App form.
Leave Authentication as OAuth (the default — ChatGPT will auto-discover Katana's OAuth settings). Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create.
A sign-in page opens. Sign in to Katana and approve the connection. You'll be brought back to ChatGPT.
Open a new chat, select Katana from the apps menu, and ask: "Show me all my currently open sales orders in my Katana account."

Custom MCP apps require a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise). If you're on Free, you won't see the Developer mode toggle. The setting lives in Settings → Apps → Advanced settings.
Refresh the page after toggling Developer mode. If the button still doesn't appear, toggle Developer mode off and on again. Some browser sessions need a hard refresh.
Allow popups for chatgpt.com and your Katana domain. If the redirect back fails, delete the Katana app from your Apps list and add it again. If you signed in with the wrong Katana account, sign out there first and reconnect.
In a new chat, select Katana from the apps menu in the composer before sending your message. ChatGPT requires you to explicitly enable an app per chat for custom MCP apps in Developer mode.
Settings → Apps → click Katana → Delete. That immediately revokes the connection.
You sign in with your existing Katana account. Nothing the AI can do is anything you couldn't already do yourself.
Sign in to Katana when prompted — the AI can only see and act on what your Katana account is permitted to. Disconnect any time from your AI client.
The AI can read your data, create new records, and update existing ones. For updates especially, ask the AI to describe what it'll change before you confirm — "tell me what you're going to update, then wait for me to say go ahead." It handles this reliably.
All traffic between your AI client and Katana is HTTPS-encrypted. Your data is processed by your AI provider under their terms — check your provider's policy for details on training and retention.
Your Katana data stays in Katana. The AI provider sees only the tool outputs needed to answer the question.
Katana MCP connects your Katana account to AI clients you already use — Claude and ChatGPT today, more coming. The in-product AI Assistant (coming later) will live inside Katana. MCP is for "I'm already in Claude or ChatGPT, let me access Katana from there."
Katana MCP is included in your existing Katana plan — no extra charge from us. Your AI provider (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) may bill you for their own usage separately.
Update yes, delete no. The AI can read your data, create new records (sales orders, manufacturing orders, POs, transfers, SKUs), and update existing ones. For updates especially, ask the AI to describe what it'll change before you confirm — something like "tell me what you're going to update, then wait for me to say go ahead." It handles this reliably; for example, asked to update a BOM quantity, it'll typically describe which downstream calculations will be affected and wait for your go-ahead before writing anything. Delete is not supported — if you need to remove a record, do that in Katana directly.
Data residency and training policies vary by provider — check your AI provider's terms for details.
Every plan — including Free. No paid plan required to try. Create a free Katana account and connect Claude in under two minutes.
In Claude: Customize → Connectors → click Katana → Disconnect. That immediately revokes access. Disconnection is managed from the AI client side.
